2024 ICA Open Championships

Do you have what it takes to win the ICA Open Championship against elite competition? We host the Open Championships each month, alternating between our Glen Rock Location and Bergen County Acadmies. Only catch: A Minimum 1600 USCF rating is required in either: 1) the monthly published rating supplement or, 2) live rating based on recently submitted tournaments!

This tournament is a three round swiss system: all of the players are grouped into one section and will play three games, based first on previous results, and second on rating, with lower rated players getting the chance to prove themselves against National Masters!

In addition, we offer cash prizes! Eligibility for class prizes is based on published rating only. Our winner will earn $200, second will get $150, and third will get $100. We reserve the right to decrease the prize fund to 70% minimum if total registration is below 30 participants.

All games are G/60, d5. The first round will always start at 2pm SHARP. The second round starts at 4:15 and the third starts at 6:30. However, reserve the right to offer a five to ten minute leeway for players who just finished an earlier round.

The early bird entry fee is $35. This rate will expire the Thursday before the tournament at 11:59pm; afterwards, the entry fee is $50. We provide sets and scoresheets. However, players must bring their own clocks!

As long as the rating requirement is fulfilled, all ages and backgrounds are welcome to our tournaments! In fact, in addition to our cash prizes for our winners, we offer a $75 cash prize for the best U2200, U2000, U1800, best under 13 years old, and best over 55 years old.
